About Ashcombe Park Bowling Club

Original green in 1918

The 36 acre park was opened in 1902, nine years before the Club was founded, on land that was formerly part of Ashcombe Manor.

It’s a natural park, with tree lined paths and shrubs rather than the more formal gardens of other parks. Note the Pavilion, which still exists and now forms the frontage of our changing rooms.

Why Ashcombe Park Bowling Club?

Is it our ideal location situated in Weston-super-Mare’s premier park surrounded by trees and shrubs that makes us popular?

Is it our greens, considered to be two of the best in the region?

Perhaps it is the fact that we are a fully integrated mixed club?

Or that we make new-comers welcome and run free coaching sessions for beginners?

Whatever the reason, whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced bowler, come along and give us a try….

…..you won’t be disappointed.

New Members

Ashcombe Park Bowling Club always welcomes new members, be they experienced bowlers or absolute beginners. We have four qualified coaches who will take you from the very basics of bowls through to detailed technique analysis.

We do not expect potential new members to sign up immediately. You can take advantage of six weeks free coaching to get to know the Club and it’s members. The sessions are run on Wednesdays and Saturdays, April to September, 10:00 to 12:00. Bowls are provided, all we ask is that you wear flat-soled shoes (no heel) with minimal tread. This is to avoid damage to the greens.

Just turn up or contact our Secretary for more details.
